About Our School

In March 2011 the school had an interim Ofsted inspection, and the inspectors again judged us to be: an outstanding school. Gillshill Primary School’s performance at the end of Key Stage 2 , has over the last 6 years, been exceptional.

The pupils’ attainment in the new curriculum Statutory Assessments (Year 6 SATs) in 2016 was again well above national expectations.

The school holds the prestigious Arts Council Gold Artsmark, and is a Creative Partnership Core School. In addition to the International School Award the school holds the Basic Skills Quality Mark 3, this National Award recognised the very high standards of attainment and teaching in English and Maths across the whole school.

The school has had the Warwick Award renewed in July 2014 for its commitment to developing Enterprise skills and opportunities for pupils throughout the school and has had many Enterprise Awards for it’s work. In Sept 2016 the school achieved the Sainsbury’s Gold Award for School Games.

There is a very strong partnership with parents, Ofsted found that: Parents are overwhelmingly supportive of the school, because, in the words of one, they are ‘ proud their children are part of such a wonderful learning community’. They say the school has an exceptional outlook and meets pupils’ needs tremendously well so that pupils flourish socially and academically’.

Our school is very proud of its links with the community and the school’s open door policy. We welcome all parents and visitors to our school. We are very keen to engage with all members of our school community and pride ourselves on our positive relationships. Our children are at the heart of everything we do.

Our main aim is to provide all our pupils with a broad, balanced, well planned curriculum, developing the whole child through a range of interesting and exciting activities. Pupils will have access to a rich variety of first hand experiences and the opportunities to participate in many short and extended visits.

It is our mission to ensure that every child who attends Gillshill Primary School has a very exciting childhood and leaves our school with many happy memories of their wonderful experiences at primary school.

I do hope you find our website useful.
